Location Scouting

The first location we went to was Neals Yard in Seven Dials. We chose this place as it is very colourful and vibrant which is what we want our music video to be like. However, the space is very small so we will need to discuss further in how we could incorporate this location in our video.

We next went to Covent Garden as it is an notable place in London and easily recognisable. The only issue we face is we scouted for locations during Christmas therefore there are decorations and events that will be gone by the time we begin filming- which will be in January.

After, we went to Carnaby Street yet it was full of Christmas decorations which is not useful to us as we will not be shooting during Christmas.

This is graffiti from Southbank near the skatepark- I think Southbank and Shoreditch will be the areas we film the most because both places are vibrant and colourful.

Digipak - 2nd Draft

From the feedback I recieved I changed the images on my house style panel and the panel above. I used the same 'emboss' filter which I used on my album cover.  Although I like the effect, I do not think the colours of the house style panel match with the colours of the album cover. Therefore I will continue to experiment with different images. In addition, the image in the panel above I also do not like as I feel it does not match with the colour scheme and style of my digipak.

Here I am experimenting with various filters in an attempt to make the colours of the house style panel match with my album cover.

This is the second draft to my digipak- I eperimented with colour and filters and I added the texts on my CDs in order for the audience to recognise which CD is the main CD.

This is the process of my poster- like my digipak I experimented with colour and made the image look more vibrant. Moreover, from the feedback I received I changed the image to the same image as my album cover on my digipak.

First Digipak Draft Feedback

From the feedback I received, I will take out the images of concerts and crowds from my house style panel and my CD panels. Many found my digipak to fit within the EDM genre. Positive feedback was received for my album cover and typography and I was advised to use the cover as the image for my poster. I will change my 'thank you' book to a lyric book as I wished to do following the feedback I received from my classmates.

First Draft Digipak

This is the first draft to my digipak to which I will present to my audience yet I have decided to remove the 'thank you' booklet to my digipak and replace it with a lyric book I will mention this when I present.

My poster is unfinished and there are multiple changes I wish to make. I will use the feedback I receive from my classmate to improve my digipak.

Ten Things That Can Ruin Our Music Video

  • Poor Planning
May delay filming schedule- accurate planning weeks ahead and accurate time management skills.
  • Weather
Halts availability to shoot - repeatedly check weather and assuring of appropriate weather to shoot.
  • Not Enough Footage
Incomplete music videos- will carry out multiple shoots and various shoots of each scene.
  • Unclear Narrative
Leads to audience confusion- carry out multiple shoots that explain our narrative well.
  • Costume/Props
Damages/loss of costume and props- Spare props and alternative costumes.
  • Poor Performance
Makes video seem unrealistic - Will carry out practise rehearsals.
  • Battery Dying
Renders us unable to continue shoot - will carry extra batteries and charger.
  • Poor Cinematography
Unable to use footage - Will carry out multiple shoots/ assure the camera is in focus.
  • Poor Editing
Shots appear inconsistent/ leads to unclear narrative - Ensuring shots do not appear choppy/ careful consideration of placement of shots .

Pitch Feedback

This is the feedback we received from our pitch- many found our animatics difficult to follow but once we explained the synopsis they were able to grasp the basis of our narrative and many found the idea to be good and conventionally within the genre. Additionally, we received positive feedback for our logo, it was seen as appropriate for the EDM genre.

Our audience found that the cinematic style of our music video will be crucial to the success- we should focus on mise en scene and lighting carefully. We will also be doing test shots in near future.
